Day Off--Not Relaxing, But Still Work

Since it was a company holiday at my job, I figured I would use the time to catch up on the following list of tasks:
  1. Accounting homework
  2. Putting clean clothes away
  3. Getting litter for the litter box
  4. Get a workout in

Well, my day went "slightly" different than what I expected :( I ended up sleeping until 9:00 am. Then I did the weekly weigh-in (another post in itself), then had oatmeal and green tea for breakfast. I ended up watch "Dead Like Me" on Sci-Fi for 3 hours before I actually started doing anything useful. After washing the dishes and washing the cat's blankets, I then started doing my accounting homework. I am 2 chapters behind so I have to play catch-up ;) I figure by the end of the week I will be caught up since the chapters so far have not been long. This is what I love about taking an Internet class. I get to work at my own pace and still come out pretty good...

I figure I will get a vigorous yoga practice or tae bo in before the hubby gets home ;)

I have been meaning to post about my bike, but other things kept getting in the way, so I am posting about it now :D
Ok, so I bought my bike in October 2008 from a seller on eBay for HALF the retail price ;) I know that some people are skeptical of eBay, but if you do your research on the seller, you will be in good shape. I LOVE EBAY!!!!!

Back to the bike...It is used, but it is in mint condition, which is good for me :) It is a 2007 Specialized Globe City 6.1 Commuter Bike complete with fenders, rear rack, and a built in generator that powers the front headlight and the rear light. Since I will be using it for commuting, I wanted to get a commuter bike so the only thing I would have to buy was additional lights (and a helmet). Although I did change the seat out for a more comfortable seat, it rides great.

I went for my first commute trip today to the post office to mail a package. Round trip it was 7.94 miles. It took me over an hour, but I was riding into the wind the whole way to the post office, which S-U-C-K-E-D! When I got to the post office, I discovered I left the key to my U-lock at home >:( so I had to take my bike into the post office. No one seemed to mind. If anything, one guy in line asked me how the gas mileage was. I told him, "FANTASTIC, because it is just the cost of food that I eat :)"

It was really exhilarating to ride my bike for transportation. It was killing two birds with one stone. Running my errand and getting my workout in combined...a win-win situation. I will admit that I need to get more comfortable on the bike, but I obeyed all the traffic laws. This seemed to actually please the drivers around me. I took a Bike Safety class back in November 2008, so I got to actually use what I learned. I will definitely be bike commuting around Pearland when I have errands to run or to get coffee. Once I get more comfortable, I might even commute for grocery shopping :)

I love my bike :D
